Gilles Street Primary School is an inner city school with an established Intensive English Language Program. The school values respect and diversity, life-long learning communication and a sense of community. Students develop learning capabilities through a focus on inquiry based and individualised learning. They provide opportunities for students of many different cultural backgrounds to learn and play together and for parents to connect with each other through a Circle of Friends program. Performing Arts is a strong feature of the school and the annual End of Year Performance, held at the Royalty Theatre is a major school event.
